Looks like he may have rubbed it on something. antibiotic ointment with out pain relief would be fine to use. or Nu stock. During molt and winter months I do sprinkle dog kibble crushed up over top of my flocks feed a couple times a week for extra protein. I feed Taste of the Wild and Diamond some use cat kibble. I think just giving them appropriate feed for their age will get them going in the healthy way it's going to take time but you have already done so much for them.

Would Bag Balm work for his beak?

Also, I'm really just amazed by the size of this guy! He's the one a bit over 4lbs, but he's got so many downy baby feathers still. His head and beak don't even fit in my hand...he's going to be a giant!

Yes I think so, DemonicFowl mentioned that earlier, and with their size already they have to be?? They're too big to be White Crested at this age? I don't know how much weight they gain between juvenile and adult. We've never dealt with dumped babies, just adults.

Oh wait, you said "Jumbo" not just regular Pekins. My mistake! Possibly?? He is huge.

My daughter and I are getting so attached to them. She's wanted ducks for so long (a couple years now). She watches this YouTube show called "50 Ducks in a Hot Tub" religiously. She's 9 and can pick out a breed, tell you their character traits, talk to you about breeding and using incubators, the chicks pipping, etc. She knows way more than I do. But my husband is not okay with the idea, and we have two high prey drive dogs. I wish we could find a way to keep them and keep them safe. We're getting kind of tired of catching them, getting attached, and then giving them away. I'm more attached to the Crested than I have been any of the other ducks that have come through our home...I think it's because he's needed so much 1 on 1 care. He seems to be attached to me too.

Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd/Husky mix, and English Mastiff/German Shepherd mix, plus a Dachshund that doesn't seem to care the ducks exist in the house.

I would guess in the pic they are around 4 weeks. How long have you had them now?

It's been two weeks. They have a ton more juvenile/adult looking feathers, the yellow is gone, and they are quacking.The picture at the beginning of the thread is what they look like now.

So that would put them around 7-8 weeks, that sounds about right. They were dumped so young, poor things!
