Saw something really cool @ Home Depot today.

My only concern and worry is the design of the transmiter. There is a good chance that it may get clogged with dust and dander and not work after time. I would place a "roof" over the transmitter to keep dust from landing on it while just drifting down, but it will still be dusty. "If" the sensor is waterproof, then it might be washable with a quick rinse here and there.

I though that myself, but the temp might be off and the humitity would not work at all in it's own micro-enviroment.

From what you describe, I bought something very similar for my fiance's b-day back in Feb. (I think I paid $35, mine is a lozenge-shaped gray thing) Since then, MI has had some horrendous late season snow storms, severe storms (80mph winds in our area) and almost daily rain. We keep ours under an "overhang" off the east side of our house and it hasn't been damaged by the weather. The barometric pressure indicator (up arrow and digital sun and down arrow and clouds) a mostly reliable indicator of what's coming. The local birds don't peck at it though it hangs in the midst of a suet feeder, regular bird feeder, and a hummingbird feeder. Go for it, it's pretty nice.

I went to lowes last night and saw the one that is in the first post of this forum for only 26.99. but there is one made by the same company right next to it for 12.95 and that one just does temp inside and out and humidity, which is perfect for the bator. it has a 15ft cord and a probe the size of a peanut that sticks inside the bator perfect and tells you exactly what the temp and humidty is in and out, just no weather predictions. just thought i would share, great price for all.
