I’ve got some updated pictures. They will be 5 weeks on Tuesday. They’re much harder to wrangle and photograph now so here are a few photos that aren’t blurry.
Here’s a full body of the dark phase one. I think I heard it quacking but hard to tell in a group of 12 ducklings.
The difference in the feathers coming in on the back are interesting. First the regular colored one and second the dark phase.
Ducklings are 8 weeks now and finally going out the pop door on their own. I've been having to herd them to get them out of the coop. Dark phase is a girl! I'm so glad too because I didn't want to have to decide between it and a regular colored male. One of the reasons I went with Saxony (instead of Silver Appleyard) is the beautiful grey heads on the males. And of course the face stripes on the females. You'll notice some WH in the mix but here is the group this morning going after mealworms.
Dark phase seems to have blue and brown laced feathers on the back. Very pretty.
