It does kind of but they don't breed Mallards so I'm sure it's not that. I don't think Holderreads would do that anyway. I'd never heard of it either and I'd done a lot of research before getting them. I guess I just have to wait and see what it looks like grown. Hopefully it's a female.

I've never heard of a dark phase saxony. Did they tell you it was? That's really cool if it's true. It could be a Rouen, though.

Yeah they wrote on the top of the box that it was a dark phase Saxony. It's also listed on this Veterinary Services 9-3 form they sent me as a Saxony. They don't breed Rouen either. I will get some better picture of it later. Maybe next one of the others for comparison.

I thought about that too so looked them up. In the pictures I’ve seen they look much darker. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I’ll post updated photos.

It looks like a saxony from those better pictures and from experience, I'd say it's a drake.
