This is the first time I have seen this in my flock. My roosters beak is dry and has this scab on it. None of the others in his flock have it. It does not appear to bother him. He has minimal dry skin and feather loss on his neck, too. Any ideas what it could be and how should I treat it?

Thanks!

I would ask what does he eat for diet, but the rest of your flock is healthy. So doubtful its a malnutrition problem.

Sorry to sound quick i clean sick birds beaks everyday several times, and to me it looks like something i commonly clean off. Sometimes it takes tweezers and a few seconds of soak to loosten it.

There is a lot of mucous on the beak and a trail leading to her nostril. Either that photo isnt recent, or you didnt wipe the mucous off.

Edit. Looking closer, the beak looks chipped or missing layers, is that normal?

That is what I am talking about. The layers you mentioned do not rub off and appear weird to me. I took this photograph about two hours ago.

Crumble layer feed. He is in a flock of 25 and none of the others are showing this. I will try soaking and possibly tweezers. Thank you.
