Scab on my roosters beak

That is what I am talking about. The layers you mentioned do not rub off and appear weird to me. I took this photograph about two hours ago.
The way the beak regrows is kind of like a fingernail i understand. Chickens usually scrape the end off and shape it, but yours is smooth. So i think you will find it is not injured or a problem, just how he has taken care of it.

It also may have gotten stuck or somwthing to get like that. As long as he is ok now.

That is pretty good. I am gonna watch this guy. Any reason you think he should be isolated?

No because anything he has contagious the rest already have. They all share the same water and space, so it may be stress or weather related too, the mucous. It could also be normal environmental stress, ventilation, weather, dust. Keep an eye on it, but your flock sounds healthy

Thanks for the info! I feel a little better. 😁

How old is he?

Please post some photos of all of him, you mention his neck looks pecked.

Clean his nares with a warm soft cloth, if you need to, apply 1 drop Peroxide and remove the debris with a Qtip. I would not pick anything with tweezers.

As for the beak, it looks like he's lost the outer sheath of the beak maybe from injury and the cuticle has been exposed. Don't pick at the beak.
Rub a little vaseline or vitamin E oil onto the beak, to help heal and sooth it. It's very dry looking.

"Main Rooster" in the pen. How big of a pen and how many roosters? How many hens in the pen and how old are all of them?

This is the first time I have seen this in my flock. My roosters beak is dry and has this scab on it. None of the others in his flock have it. It does not appear to bother him. He has minimal dry skin and feather loss on his neck, too. Any ideas what it could be and how should I treat it?

Thanks!

Here is today. Thoughts?

Any lesions inside the beak?

Looks like injury to me, maybe from scraping it by reaching through wire, a little fighting or getting pecked at.
