I was checking over my hens the other day and noticed two of my hens had big round scabs under their bellys in almost exactly the same place! We do have a rooster, could he be doing this?
It's not the kind of mark a rooster usually uses. I would look around to see if I could see a cause. What is their flooring? Is their roost rough surfaced?
I wonder if the sawdust might be irritating them. I can see how it might if it has certain woods in it, or rough pieces. Just a guess, and you would think it would bother more than just two. What about rats, or some other predator? Rats have been known to nibble on chickens' toes at night. I hope you can figure out your mystery!
