Was wondering if this is scaly leg mite or not?

I noticed it about a couple weeks ago, but it doesn’t look like any others of my flock has it.

Feathered legs often have weird scales, but wouldn't hurt to coat them in lard or something
Okay! Our other Silkie rooster doesn’t seem to have scales like this though. They were from the same shipment and hatchery.

I would put some red kote on it, you can find it at tractor supply, and IMHO I would cut the spur, unless you have em free ranging alot so he can protect the flock. Good luck
Just curious, why cut the spur? They don’t free range and I don’t think he would protect the girls anyways 😂

And you recommend the red kote as opposed to soaking in epsom salt and covering with petroleum/ lard etc. ?

I'd treat with the petroleum, regardless. It's a benign treatment, so it won't hurt him if he doesn't have mites. It's also a good time to check/trim nails, as well. I trim my roosters' spurs, too. It's mostly a cosmetic thing for me. but I also keep the occasional bachelor flock. Keeping everyone's spurs to a moderate length tends to keep the King-of-the-Mountain squabbles more manageable!

To treat for scaley leg mites, go in the coop at night, slather his feet with vaseline. Skip a night. The next night do it again, then skip a night and do it once more for a total of three times. You do it at night so the vaseline has a better chance of staying on and smothering the mites for a good 8 hours or so.
