I have 4 day old chicks. One of the EE girls is my favorite (i really swore i wasnt gonna pick favorites...) she is the only one who doesnt run away screaming when I try to pick her up. When I pick her up, she almost immediatly falls asleep. She is the most energetic and she absalutely loves to explore (and get into trouble) Her and my little EE roo are just best buddies. They do every thing together. I love them both soooo much.
Today it was around 90 degrees and incredibly humid- outside. In the coop it was near 100. Unbearable. As much as I hate it, I had to leave the door open. I went to check on my babies around 8:00. The fist thing i saw was all the ckicks clustered towards the door. They had got out of their closed off part of the coop. I went to put them all back, counted them, and counted 6 (there should be 7) I realized my little girl was missing. I freaked out.
I put all the chicks in their "going outside" box. I had my brother carry them to the other end of the yard and watch them, where I couldnt hear their peeping. Then I sat, and listened, and I heard the desperate peeps of a lost chick. I had noo idea where they were coming from. Then, just for the heck of it, I ran down to the door of the lower level of the coop. The peeps were closer. She was in the mess of thorns, grass, vines, and thistles. I peeled back a couple plants at a time, and there she was, clear as day. Tears ran down my face as I ran her back their little pen. She was fine, just a little cold and wet.
At 9:00 I went back down and sat down in their pen. I tapped the ground, she came to me. I picked her up and she fell asleep. When I had to go, i put her down. She woke up, and fell right back down again, falling asleep instantly. When I started to walk out, she realized I was going and started to yell. It kills me when I have to leave them

I can not express how thankful I am that I found her. Over just four days she, and the other chicks, have become a big part of my life. I love them so much. Just had to vent

Aaaaw... Yeah, I know how you feel. I have favorites too. My first two babies, Henny and Spunky. I bought them when they were still tiny little yellow balls of fur, back in March, and love 'em to pieces! I love all the chicks/chickens i've gotten since, but those two are my absolute babies.

Glad your lil one was alright!
