Scared to death ...

I don't know if this makes you feel any better but i am a nurse in a large hospital and have been exposed no less than 3 times to pts unkown for TB on admission and have tested negative on every test I have had. They do at least yearly tests on us and some extra with exposure. ErinM

TB is not particularly contagious, certainly not like the cold or the flu. People can be near others with TB for years without becoming infected. TB can also be present but inactive. If it is inactive, or in the bones it is not contagious. I would only worry if you have been in direct contact with the infected person during an active phase.

My G-ma was exposed as a chgild and always tested possitive. She lived well into her 90's but it always caused a stir with the new Dr's when they would see the test come back possitive.

I agree if it was the really bad kind the gov. would have swooped in by now and quarentine/ or test everyone, like they did when there was that scare on the plane.

you would have to be around her ALOT! But with that said, he husband works with yours and he comes home to you! Hope for the best and we are sending our prayers~

I worked 12 hour shifts in the same room with a TB patient. When he was diagnosed the company had us all (8 individuals on shift with him, 50+ on other shifts + admin personnel) tested free of charge, no one, not one single person came back positive.
