In the Brooder
Thank you very much motorcyclechick. I'm going to wait until my new incubator comes. It's due to arrive on Tuesday. Hopefully by Thursday it'll have the humidity and heat ready. I think I'm going to use the styrofoam one to put the babies in after they hatch for the first couple days and then into the chicky bassinet. Yes I am in Washington State in a little town called Enumclaw. We have had a pretty mild winter the last three years so I'm hoping this year will be the same. I'm very pleased to hear that we can hatch the whole year long. I started out wanting 2 chickens but ended up coming home the first week with seven and I'm looking forward to many more LOL we have six and a half acres so we have plenty of room for these little babies to play. We have one chicken condo and two other homemade coop kind of pens that are 10 foot by 10 foot. They were dog kennels that we made into chicken pens. We bought six wooden dog houses for each pen that the chickens seem to love. My silkie rooster and the five young hens sleep in the chicken condo. I have another rooster in one of the 10 by 10 pens and some other crazy rooster who likes to be aggressive in the other 10 by 10 pen. The chicken condo that we bought says that it's good for 24 chickens but to me it looks like maybe 12 chickens tops. I will definitely be using this website for information. You and the other person were so much comfort during this hard time. I am forever grateful
