scavenging for chicken food ok?

Well, I am frugal and I hate waste. My vhickens get lots of scraps from plates and cutting boards at my house and they love it. But I also have tossed trimmings from deer I have taken and they eat it up. Even rib cages get picked over over a course of a couple weeks. They seem fine.

I am considering carp fishing with an aim toward feeding the catch to the chickens. Is this a horrible idea?

I think that it's fine if done in moderation, say in conjunction with a mostly grain diet. Keep the fish fresh by keeping the servings often and small or your birds could be facing serious health issues.

We feed fish scraps to the birds with no problems. You have to have a tolerance for the unbeaten parts laying in the run, though.....I've never had a problem with the eggs tasting fishy either.

There could be a parasite issue with freshwater fish.

That said, some birds eat freshwater fish as their main diet...I have never had issues.
