They are not interested in me much, only at snack time. They are more on the wild side. They are good protecters and I had no problem adding other roosters. So far there were no major fights

That is very good to know! I currently have more than a few cockerels, so it’s perfect that Schijndelaars can be with other roosters.

Hi! @spruett386 what is your Schijndelaar rooster’s personality like? Is he always friendly and willing to be held? And is he good to his hens? I’m probably going to get hatching eggs in the (hopefully near) future, and I’m very curious to know if the roosters are good boys.

Hey! I freaking love my Schijndelaars! Tim, my rooster, is just a big goo-goo baby and I can hold him as such. And Onion, my Schijndelaar hen, is as gentle as a lamb. They're a delightful pair.

They used to be super skittish but completely mellowed out. They're wonderful

That’s so cool! I’ve always had to cross my fingers for a sweet roo, so it’s great to know that the Schijndelaar roosters can be sweethearts.

New member and I'm hoping I can get some help. I was able to get some hatching eggs from someone kinda local, his originally from greenfire. My hatch was super heavy on the roo side but I don't need that many and I need to pick two that are the best breed wise but I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. Having a hard time finding pictures with the standard of what they mean etc.
I'll post the others so there's a comparison. These are the two I'm leaning to, second one is my fave but I've noticed his crest has gotten so intense that he can't see now. I know there's something about the combs needing to be a specific way. Just not sure what I'm looking for. Any help appreciated

I have 2 young roosters, I love them!! Very difficult breed to find, hoping to get some more hatching eggs from this breed soon.

My Schijndelaar has a huge crest. I haven't seen any other pictures of this breed with a crest quite like hers, yet. I'm excited to get from eggs from her! The breeder I got her from, whose stock came from Greenfire, his flock laid blue eggs.
