Loving on my precious little bundle of fluff~

Maddy was at the cage door absolutely begging to come out, so cuddles while I facebook browse.
She seems to prefer me to her other chick companions...

Today turned out pretty good for everyone in the house. My dad and brother came to help us move for one day, and despite being his 21sdt B'day my brother worked hard. By the end of the day, right before he and dad left to take our stuff toour new housr, I dragged him off and surprised him with a birthday present.

He's lucky he got this beautiful lil boy (I almost kept him!). This is Pinto an 8 week old Maltese x Shih-Tzu, and after my brothers 15yr old dog Rascal (a Maltese x Lhasa-Apso) passed January 4th, I thought it was time he had company again.

I'll add more photos here and there, but they are a perfect pair.

Tuesday 12th

All the babies are looking so healthy and happy- Maddy is as active as the rest and appears to be fitting in extremely well despite being 1/2 the size of the others.

Popcorn has proven she's a mucky-pup, and looks dishevelled and dirty
* Excuse the mess, its cage cleaning time soon.

I know plenty are against having roosters as cuddle buddies, but our daughter is so attached having raised him from 3/4 weeks of age.

He only dislikes me apparently and chases / pecks when I walk through 'his' yard, but the daughter chases him back if he tries her (she's braver than me!).

She's eve decided, out of 4 chicks she's allowed to hold, that Popcorn is hers

Cage cleaned, and time for cuddles, pics and them bed~
Everyone's getting less skittish with my approach, generally because I use the front opening door instead of the open roof.

^ Genie and Popcorn are always first to say hello.

^ Opal decided to join Popcorn

^ Rocket and Maddy snuggling while Genie pristens up.

^ Opal sussing things out and Genie wondering what the heck.

So, we raise our babies a little different to everyone else- in that we do not use or offer a heat lamp.
Instead we rotate between indoors and outdoors as temperature suits and the girls spen cold times in their cage in our bedroom where our Air Conditioner runs on the Heating setting.
If its not too windy, or cold outside, we let them enjoy sunlight and fresh air, either in their cage or in the bigger coop.

We also got an update on our little quackers and they're growing up so fast without us!

Our boy decided to investigate the girls- of course we make sure theres never a time he can reach them without a safety barrier in between.

Ella and Popcorn are a match made in chicky heaven. And Maddy has been renamed Lola as we had a few miscommunications as we have a friend called Matty

Wednesday 20th May

Lola is my snuggle buddy- she hates being in the cage, and begs to come out even when with the others. So she's a lil spoilt~

On Friday 22nd May she (and the others) will be 2 Week Old

^ So proud

^ Fell into the water trying to get to me so keeping warm and nestled

^ Gotta preen to finish drying right?

^ Back to sleep after cuddles, drying off, and more cuddles.
