School Bus broiler house/juvenile safe house good or bad idea?

I take that back. Mine free range. But they already have a coupe. I just mean I don't have a field to move it around. What I had in mind was to raise about 100 pullets in there for 8 to 12 weeks then sell them. Dunno if there is much of a demand for live broilers. I could be wrong.

I thought I read somewhere on here, but someone was doing this, but putting it underground. They were digging a huge hole for the bus to go in and having a ramp coming up to ground level. I dont remember who it was though..

i have lots of experience altering school buses.... not for a chicken coop, although i think that's genius! we have renovated a couple of buses into rv's. the first advice to come to my head is that removing the seats is usually hard to do. the bolts are frozen in place, so just grind the bolts off, much quicker done that way!
$300 is not a bad price for one that doesn't run. when our last one blew the engine, i think we got $325 from the scrap yard...

any questions you think of, ask... either me or my husband would probably know!

You should go for the running one that would be better if you want to go to the Farmers market it would be kind of funny and you could have different sections for different ages. And make brooder boxes. You could hold tons of chickens.

This is a great idea. I grew up in a wrecking yard (family Business) and had done a few busses.. I agree grind the bolts off if they dont come loose quickly. OR use PB Blaster on them a day or two ahead of working in them. thats great stuff.

Personally - If you want this to move get the one that runs.
If your planning to leave it forever - go with the scrapped one.
either way - its a great idea.

remember we all love picts......

i haven't worked on all makes and models, but all the ones i have do go thru the floor.

That's a good idea about grinding off the bolts. I pictured my self in there all day on my belly loosening nuts. Do they go thru the floor to the underside?
