School hatch Now Day 21 Peep peep peep!

So tomorrow is day 10 and I'd like to candle them. I don't think I can get the room where the bator is dark enough. The room across the hall has a storage closet with no window but should I risk taking 8 eggs over there? Would they be okay out of the bator that long? When I hatched here I was able to candle right in the room. Hmmmm.....

Got the classroom as dark as we could but couldn't see much. It just isn't dark enough. I took one of the white eggs across the hall to the closet in the science lab which was pitch black and I think I can see an air sac looking like it should. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

We're going to try candling again later today. The humidity stayed up over the weekend but the temps dropped a little. I hope at least a few of them hatch!

Three chicks when I came in this morning! Very wet and loud. They must have hatched early this morning though it's hard to tell since our humidity is so high. I will have to move them to the brooder so they can dry out. It's going to be more than 95 degrees outside so it will be close to that in here. Brooder is almost up to temp and ready to go. I think we have to two more starting to pip. The students are so excited. And of course I forgot my camera.....

Congrats on babies! I love that for a school project, that is how I got my black australorps 2 years ago. Good luck on the rest!

A fourth has hatched. So far we have dominique/polish and americauna/polish. We're hoping for at least one pure bred polish!

we are going to have to whip ya with a wet noodle for forgetting your camera!
but congrats on the babies

LOL, even with outside temps at 95+ we couldn't get the brooder temp above 85 so I went home at lunch time to get another lamp. I grabbed the camera while I was there. This isn't great since I was trying not to bug them too much. These are the first to hatch. When I left at 3:15 I saw no other pips. Hoping to find more tomorrow.

We had 30 eggs!!!! My second batch is day 21 tomorrow, so maybe.....I don't think so but I guess anything's possible! I think something's not right with the incubators that we're using....myself and another teacher did it and only ended up with 4 chicks hatching (1 died after 2 days) out of 60 eggs and we did everything just like she did it for 18 years and got GREAT results for those 18 years!
