School is out!! Bored already???

They mostly know better, but if they start moaning and groaning...they get "Oh, are you bored? Bored you say? I KNOW I can find something FUN for you to do. Hear, let me think..." and they generally don't let me get further than that before deciding profusely that they are absolutely NOT bored.

Heck, I had four children so they could entertain each other. How could they possibly be bored?

I agree with Asher. My kids dare not tell me they are bored, because I reply, Well, I can think of lots of chores you could help me with. Not to mention, we have a Wii, a playstation, tv, books, a tire swing, a handball court, a playhouse, a hole in the ground to dig in, bicycles, a pool table, and soon a zip line and baby chicks!

I wish school was out!!! This is finals week.

My mom tells me that when I don't have work to do I go out and make work for myself to do. She just doesn't understand why I can't sit still.

I'm going to be graduating with a BS in bioengineering and will have done it in just 4 years.

Then off to more school.

Apparently, when I was little, my mom said I'd tell her I was bored, jump up and down for a bit, and before she could tell me something to do, I'd be gone and she'd find a hole in the yard, buckets of mud on the porch, a k'nex sky scraper from floor to ceiling, or my little brother and I filling a box with slugs... just to get up in the morning to find that they were able to crawl out the "air holes" and coat the entire front porch and eves with slugs who had escaped. Then she'd tell us to get a stick and knock the hundreds of slugs off the house. "MOOOMMMM, I have a slug stuck in my hair!!!"

Never had the toys so many kids have today... when I have kids... I don't know if I'd buy them electronic toys. Maybe I'll hand them a shovel and say, have fun. Probably easier said than done! Good luck to all you parents out there!

lol k'nex are the bomb i still have some fun disigning vehicles with them for the heck of it and then crash them and make them stronger till i get board. then go chase the chickens back in

Being in education, I think I have a decent view of kids today. Basically, they have to have something going on every second of every day. The sad thing is we’ve set them up to be this way. Playing 3 sports, dance practice, etc, etc. When they have nothing to do, they have no idea how to act. They feel as though they must be entertained. If they’re bored, they feel like you should be the ones to entertain them. They have a outlandish sense of entitlement. I have kids whining after they finish their assignments that they’re bored. They learn fast that copying the phonebook isn’t fun. So saying I’m bored loses it’s flare very early in the year.

We don't have a wii but they (he and his sister) do have video games, but are limited to how long they can play them. Imaginative play is so good for them.
And Oh yes..believe me, during all his boredom today, he got his room cleaned up, I even got my living room cleaned!! He has learned to find things o do or I will find something for him! He does have workbooks and things to do during the summer, but being that this is his first day off, I wasn't going to make him do school work!

I wish I could be bored too!!! There is ALWAYS something to do here. During the week I have 5 kids here, 3 under the age of 15months!!
