Scout, My Ameraucana Boy@8 Mths Old

He's a beauty. His blue/green sheen reminds me of the Australorp roos.

Sometimes keeping a flock involves tough choices!!!

so cyn are you just focusing on the two breeds you have now and expanding them? or are you moving on to another breed also.

Hi, Henry! I'm going to work on my Blue Orps and my Barred Rocks right now. I had to keep a BR boy from my Oct. hatch so I could depend on fertile eggs. My Hawkeye is such an easygoing guy and just isn't getting it done. I really didn't want to have four roosters here anyway. So, for now, I'll have Suede and his harem and then the main flock with Hawkeye and Gabriel as the men of the house. Of course, all plans can change in a heartbeat, LOL.

boy do I know I may be getting a pair of Blue Wheaton ameracanas and if I like them enough I will swich completly over to them and Favvorels. I said no roos for me but now I think i am getting one.

He is sure beautiful and glad you are giving him a good home! At least decisions have to be made like I did with my Amercuana bantams which I am not plan on breeding anymore of those. I just focus on Orpingtons of all colors and Silver Spangled Hamburgs and maybe Hamburg and Spitzhauben bantam crosses.....

Since I wont be getting any Amercuana eggs next year, you can throw in barred Rocks since I can always find home for those babies and perhaps keep one for egg laying.

I'll make a note of it! If I get back into the Ameraucanas in the future, dont be surprised. I did really like them, but I just needed to choose this path for now. I do love my Barred Rock sweeties. They have more personality than any of my other girls!
