they aren't sitting on their eggs. I made them a pen out of a nice big wood box and cut a hole in the side. It is nice and dark in there and they started to lay there. Is it going to hurt these eggs that they aren't sitting on them yet? I want ducklings!

How many eggs are in there? She will go broody and sit on the eggs when she feels like there are enough eggs, they will last a good while before she sets on them.

There were 4 or 5 in there and a chicken egg too because one of the chickens went and laid in there. I am not touching the eggs so I let the chicken egg stay in there.

My muskovy just started setting on April 1....she layed eggs for about 2 weeks, combined with 2 other hens that layed the same - when she finally decided to set full time - she had between 30-40 eggs under her!! She has started culling them - so far, I have found 17 of them kicked out of the house...we are due to start hatching in about another week or so!

We have a single female and male, she has laid us three eggs so far, but not in the nesting spot we provided her. She dug out a nice little shallow bowl in the sand, smack in the middle of the chicken coop. She doesn't sit on them at night but she sits next to them, and during the day she rolls them around the little bowl. This morning I came out and they were in a perfectly strait line lol.

Its very likely that the one laying the eggs will be the one to go broody 4 or 5 isn't enough for some girls, she will decide when she has enough eggs to sit on, and then she wont budge. We are waiting and watching to see if ours will go broody soon too, or at least before one of the chickens decide to try to hatch them.

If you really want to know who is laying the eggs then you could get up really early and stalk the nesting box. That's how I know what chickens lay what eggs over here. That's if you have the time though lol, I am unemployed at the moment so on top of filling out applications, construction work, and dishes I watch our little farm and its daily life.
