In reference to your lamp burning out, and loosing your ducklings (first, sorry) . . . . I used to have a nice East African Nile Crocodile. I had him a long time, and had alot of work and money tied up with him. I really liked the thing (though I don't think that he liked me as much). I had raised him from a hatchling. Anyways, I came home late one cold winter night and as soon as I pulled up I could tell the enclosure was too dark. I lost power to his enclosure. Upon inspection it was too late. Ofcourse that is off topic, but I can relate with a power failure loss. It apparently was off all day and night. I was the only one that took care of him. It took along time for it to sink in that it had even happened. I was considering gas for my outdoor brooders for this spring.

Hey there Mrs. Kathy

Oh goodie
clap.gif
what say you on these more NHs are they a different strain or ?

And yes on the scrapes and scars, I get them on a reg. basis between my mechanic-in' (knuckle-buster) and my chicken farming my hands and arms usually look like I been fighting a grizzly bear through a Yucca plant
gig.gif
My hands are so scarred up that a lot of the time I don't even realize that I've injured myself till I look down and see the blood "aflyin"
sickbyc.gif
And I'm sporting around a big ol' black thumbnail at the moment too, don't quite remember how that one came about but I do remember it hurting and what I said when it happened and it was'nt a prayer at first, I had to say a prayer after what I said though, I'm sure of that

Kathy, yup- my arms and hands and my legs as well- scratched and bitten to pieces.

LH, sorry about your duckies and sorry about stinky people's horses bothering the Diva. Hugs, my friend.

Brandon, there are days, and then there are days, aren't there? Sorry you had a bad one.

There are the NEW NH pics on CCBB, Jeff.

We are going to process Saturday. I am already ill thinking about it.

Knox, DH and me, that's it. The deal is that my DH actually does the dirty work, but I have to catch the birds and bring them to him. Because the birds know me and aren't scared of me, and they think DH is a big dangerous threat.
Which he is, considering that he is the processor.

This makes me a traitor and I can't look the birds in the eye. It just kills me. Who was it in mythology that ate her own children? Besides Cronus- wasn't there some female somewhere that did that, too? Egad.
We are going to empty one tractor for sure, 6 birds, and possible take two more out of the other tractor- that's about it for one day for us, and for frig space between me and my MIL.

Beth I am not sure i could do that really - i know it is natural and stuff. I go the wimpy way and auction my roosters off- Sometimes they make it to a good home where someone is wanting a rooster for their flock and i am sure sometimes they go to meat. But the part you mentioned about not looking them in the eye - i agree. I have a couple younger roo's right now and am going to try and ee since they all grew up together if they wont just get along ...we shall see. The problem being that they are half del and the one is basically a Del with feathered legs - what i wanted - barred tail - del neck markings and the rest white - and they are such sweet funny guys - we shall see

Nugget is on Day 18 with one egg. I hope it hatches. Nuggs is so in her element as a mama and I hope it hatches! I don't know what to do if it doesn't. She needs babies.

I can't process birds, either, not unless they're nasty mean roosters. Even with Jake, I felt like a traitor. He sure made great stew, though.

Go nugget!!!

The one roo i am talking about Buff cochin dad and a delaware mom - he came out well basically columbian marked. He is a big boy but still very young. The other day i was watching chicken tv out there - and he discovered a butterfly- well he was chasing it and hopping in the air and then ran sideways and jumped around - like a lil playful kitten or something. Well i swear he looks right at me and realizess - ooops i am to be the big manly rooster - stopped in his tracks and scooted forward harumphed at two nearby hens and started scratching the ground like a bull . Like ok you busted me being silly - so i am gonna show you that i am inddeed the big manly roo- his mothers personality shines thru that is for sure - goofballs. So how could i ever process this guy?!?!?!?!

You can't, Knox. There comes a point where you realize some line has been crossed. Cyn could never process Isaac or Suede, nor I Ultrasuede, Ivan or Impy. Not naming them helps, but not much.

Lilith, remember on the show (ETA:Cheers), Frasier, his wife, well she had that name for a reason' as she always had a frightful, drat appearance and actually scared the bee-jeebers outta him most of the time.

Google "Lilith" she goes around stealing children as they drift off into dreamland
