Oh BTW Lancelot has 6 girls of his own now and another that is starry eyed in love with him! He has his three survivors Athena, Ruby and Delilah now he has Leaya, Chewy and Becca. But Junebug is absolutely in love with him. Everytime I let him out with her he dances and dances and she scoots near him, gets bumped into and knocked down. LOL So I am still keeping them separated. Addie is undecided, she is still checking out all the men in the coop, very picky that girl.


With Isis passing away I am trying to find someone for Zena near her age that she can pal around with before I take Atlas and brother to Cattitude. I am going to try her with Nutmeg and Hector today and see how they do, of that fails then my older Mottled Orp girl is very very passive so I will try them together. Poor Zena may winter in the house with us if I cannot find her a buddy soon.

yeah yeah yeah I will visit again when I go pick up Rufus in the Spring. Once Cyn hs babies from him of course.

DH still wants Ike and would take him in a second. I like Ike too the problem is that Ike is very very attached to Cyn and very suspicious/cautious of anyone else. But to see him interact with Cyn tells me it would have to be a really no choice move to take Ike from her, God forbid, that boy would be heartbroken.

Kathy, did you know that years ago, Sandhill Preservation added in Blue Rocks to offset inbreeding in their Blue Orpingtons? The yellow skin pops up on occasion as a throwback to that. Suede and Skye, may she rest in peace, were both from Sandhill so occasionally, they'd throw a yellow-skinned son, but I haven't seen one of those out of Smoky and Dusty, not ever, not till Isis. Those two are half sisters, same sire, but supposedly not out of Sandhill stock at all, so the yellow skin was quite unexpected. She was still so beautiful.

Smoky isn't pooping solid at all, in spite of having some egg and gruel (soupy oatmeal/yogurt/chick starter). And her crop is dripping water or it could be the water that is under the skin that she was holding almost like a blister that is dripping out of the exterior sutures. The crop was sewn up very well and this is just clear water, not mixed with food so doesn't appear to be from the crop itself. We keep changing the towels she is on, but she has period where she shivers and just doesn't seem to be improving. She eats and drinks fine, but I'm still not sure she will make it.

Dang it. Cyn could there be a small pinhole in the upper crop area that is allowing water to roll down the crop and build up inside near the sutures? Or left over saline from the rinsing out of the crop? That is very odd. Poor Smoky I hope she can pull through this and I hope you can figure out what it is.

It may take her a day or so to get her digestion geared back up again. I am praying for that girl. Please keep us posted.
