Now for the morning Smoky report:
She's alive! Not only that, she was waiting for her food where I had been putting her bowl-have her water on one side of the brooder away from the heat lamp and had set up a stand for her food on the other. DH said she had been standing over her water then was standing where her food should be, like she was waiting to be served. The dripping seems to have stopped now-her feathers are dry around her chest area. When she was eating, she even picked up her foot like she was going to scratch in her bowl! This hen is one tough cookie! I fully expected to wake to no Smoky after seeing how her heart was racing last night. She is still shaking her head a lot, but Beth said maybe it's because her stitches itch and she can't scratch them. Makes sense.
I was amazed that Ike took a piece of muffin from Beth's hand. Panda and Gypsy swooped in to help him eat it, of course.
