Thank you, Kathy! I would love some of those at a later date, for sure. I realize that many of my older hens will be gone within the next year, unless they just really beat the odds. I won't be hatching other than to give Nugget a couple of eggs (if she actually follows through and goes broody for real), but those chicks will be rehomed when she is done mothering them. Unless it's Nugget, who I know I can count on, I probably won't allow another hen to sit this year.

Those are gorgeous pullets, Kathy! I can't wait to see them as they fill out even more.

Remember the BCMarans girl I found hiding in the old tractor sitting on a dozen eggs? She is hatching. She had one dead chick half out of the shell. One healthy chick running around. AND..... one rotten egg exploded! I could smell it before I even got close to her!

OH Kathy, Why do you show us things I like so much. I love the look of the buff laced Brahmas. Wow Gloria Jean

Cyn, the son of your Big Blue Teddy Bear was being true to Daddy's manners this evening. Everyone was inside except Leaza and Hector. Hector would not go inside without the last girl in so Chy grabbed up Leaza and I scooped up Hector who promptly said "aaawwwwoooohhhhh" and snuggled his head against my chest to be carried inside. It was dark outside too and even though I startled him when I scooped him up, as soon as I spoke his name, he calmed right down and snuggled against me.

I agree...I am evaluating my stock here and the size of these big ole loves. My old gals and the boys will stay until they pass on but shuffling below them will certainly happen. I am going to shift more to the bantams overall. I willkeep my large fowl layers at about 20 in number plus the OEs, cochin trio and everything else will be bantam sized.

Kathy, ose brahma sure are purty. :)

Yummy Kathy. LOL. I had a pet wild turkey as a kid...it wandered up and I raised him and named him Lurch. LOL
