I wish Caroline the best. Maybe at some point in the future, breeding will be more towards health and longevity, rather than sacrificing those for super egg layers and short lives.

Cyn after having all those big chickens these past years, how does it feel to you now with bantams?

This is Laura's video.............
Thanks Kathy

Thanks Kathy, we love watching them too. Can you believe that by August we will have at least seven feeders out for them. That is when we will go thru about a gallon of feed a day.

I think the little hens are adorable, the best pocket pets ever! I don't think I'll actually get into breeding them and increasing my numbers after I raise up Mina and Lucy and add them in there, mainly to offset overbreeding of the others by Aubrey and Angus.

I like my big chickens, but I think I'd rather have Rocks than Orps, just a tad smaller in size and much better layers to boot. They come in the same colors I love so I'm scaling down to the BBS Rocks along with my BRs I have loved for years, with some Ameraucanas and EEs thrown in for color in the carton. Less leg issues with the Rock roosters than the Orp roosters of Suede's size. He's always spraining his leg jumping off his ramp, silly man.

I wonder why your hummers get along so well Laura, while we can't get more than two to sit at the feeder at a time. And at that, they have to be on opposite sides when they do. If they can see each other, each wants to run the other off!

Great video though. Thanks for sharing!

I'm very happy to report that Charlotte is not only still alive, but is making great progress in her recovery. She's even starting to put a bit of weight on her right leg [the one that was injured] and has a fantastic appetite. I think she's actually going to make it!

Amy that is awesome about Charlotte. I have hateful Delilah in the house, healing well and still bitching togo back outside.

Cyn, it is hard not to love the little girls isn't it? They are so sweet. I have to agree about the Orps with their size and etc. Lancelot and now Hector are both constantly jumping off something and then limping for a day or two. The hens are a mess. The silly Zena is in back in full on cluck cluck cluck mode. So, I may slip her a baby or two if she stays this way. Or maybe I will let her mother whatever hatches in the bator. We will see. I always have Mrs. Fluffy to mother babies if need be.

So, of this large number of babies running amuck here, I have finally narrowed down what and whom will stay....

Cochins Lizzie and Luke plus a second little girl from Brandon
2 pair of lavender coch'anvers
1 pair of black coch'anvers
1 quad of Mille d'anvers
2 orp girls

everyone else...baby wise....going to sales

Incubator full....orps and etc from Cyn's will see what hatches. Brandon will take some, Shawna will take some, I will keep some and the rest will go to sales.

Amy, I am glad she is doing better.

I don't know that the Hummers get along so well as they are always chasing each other. We have many a close call with one flying by that they nearly drilled our foreheads

They get to flying so fast. Folks that come over jokingly say that they need a helmet around here.
