I did that once, too. Caroline's daughter, Glenda's first brood was a week old, a bunch of pure Orps. I sold them, after people told me she'd be over it the first day. She literally looked for them for months. It broke my heart! I vowed that she'd keep the next batch as long as she wanted them and she did and was an excellent mother. I won't ever just take all the chicks from a good mother hen again, ever!
The baby died last night. It apparently couldn't digest food Tom gave it and wasn't right inside. I expected that, though.
This morning we got Nugget off to eat and drink. Tom was checking the eggs, asked if one had poop on it. I said no, so he handed me the egg to wipe poop off. It was only a little bit, but as I was wiping, I realized that there was no written name on it. It was Nugget's own egg she apparently added to the bunch yesterday, LOL. So, she has 9 eggs instead of 8.
