It's funny, Cyn, that I know some of their family tree, LOL!

How is Suede doing?

Suede is hanging in there, up then down. His crow is awful in the morning, barely two syllables, then trails off, but a tad stronger by afternoon. Today, I think his color isn't as good as it should be.

I have both Amanda and Caroline limping. Amanda's issue is up high in the hip joint. She also has arthritis in the foot on that leg. Since she has fluid accumulating under the skin, she is on penicillin. Caroline has arthritic feet, is a bit on the thin side, but her crop is fine and she's very talkative, keeps Amanda company. I'm sure Gideon hurt Caroline chasing her like the hormonal teenage rooster that he is. She is head hen. Amanda is next in line along with Becca. They are all three 5 1/2 years old, as they say "not spring chickens" anymore.

I'm betting by the end of this year, I'll be down a few more older birds. I need to rehome/sell several. I'm rethinking my flock dynamic and plans as well. I think I won't be keeping a D'Anver rooster at all in the bantam coop and that coop will also house my older hens since it has no steep ramp. We have a new window to install for added ventilation in the heat of summer in that coop, which is hotter than the others.

I have a couple blue Marans hens that I can not find. One being Helen Killer.

Today, head hen Caroline watching over semi-crippled Amanda. She didn't leave her all day long.

I just love Caroline's color.

Spent last night and this afternoon playing with an auto coop door. I just have to frame it in nice. I leave for work before they roost, and I can't lock them in the shed-it's too hot. My main coop is in the shade, but this shed is in the sun all day.

Oh lordy I am a full time grandma for the next six days to a whirlwind of energy in and eight year old boys body. I already went to the coop and consoled Lancelot and Hector warning them of the impending upheaval in their world. Lancelot growled and I swear Hector snorted.

The Suede project is coming along....for comparson look at Cyn's avatar as that is the picture I beaded this from...I so love that pic of Suede. Now to punch holes, lace it to the hoop and add the fringe of sickle feathers and beads. Whew...I hate punching holes hahahahaha
