What a night! I told the staff this, but, we had a BAD storm after a very long spell of no rain. Lightning hit the house as I was nodding off to sleep. Fried my newest phone plus old one in the basement, so have to buy another- we have only the old corded one for a bit. Scared the crap out of me-was nodding off the sleep after turning off the computers because I saw lightning starting up. Jolted me out of bed with a yell. I don't think I've ever heard anything so LOUD! Tom had just unplugged the DSL modem, he said.

It knocked a clock off the wall in my office and get this- it knocked the 3 gallon waterer off the bucket stand in the main coop! It was sitting UPRIGHT in the floor, but most of the water had drained out. It even removed the bucket top (bucket is turned upside down with low wattage bulb for defrosting in winter, so removable top is on bottom). Birds must have been scared out of their minds when that thing levitated.

Tom still needs to go up on the roof to see if there is damage. Don't see any water spots on the ceiling, but we have very deep insulation up in the attic so still need to check it.

WOW! That had to be tooo scary. I could see lightening last night far in the distance. I told my hb it was probably in Murphy. Thank goodness we did not get more rain here. The few tomato plants that my hb put in the lower area are wilted from to much water and heat. The ones up in my 3 x 16 box is doing great.
I had to giggle when I read about the tub levitating. That is just plain wierd. I sure am glad you are ok. I am glad it did not catch fire. This morning I am trying to do with a case of inner ear dizziness, vertigo. Also the lovely nausea that accompanies it. Ugh! I want to build a small outside -inside brooder I can set out on the grass in pretty weather. My head is not a help at all in figuring the plan out. gloria Jean

Yikes, Cyn, that was really close! I am glad it didn't start a fire!

Another drought in progress here. I feel so bad for the farmers. We got a few sprinkles this morning, kinda like dew on the grass. I am grateful for all the shade I have available. I let out all my chickens and they spend all afternoon out there.

Glad you and Tom and the birds are ok!!!

Thanks. Just found one of the satellite LNBs is also fried. That means some of our TV watching is gone till we can get a new one, unless Tom can get an old one to work. (We have 3 satellite dishes we use to watch television with, plus the roof antenna, which may also be gone)
