Kathy, I would have gone in from the top where the scabby place was.

Janelle she looks like she appreciated the surgery...in that last pic she has an expression like "Yeah my foot looks funny but it does not hurt now"

Well Done NellaBean!

I went in from the top and bottom. Both sides on the top and the bottom. Messing with the top helped the pus come out the bottom. I really don't think I got everything, but I'll unwrap it in a few days and recheck it. She definitely has a much less advanced case in her other foot.....it has the black spot but no real swelling yet.

Poor thing, she did not enjoy it at all......it was a giant bloody mess.....at one point I squeezed her foot and the bloody pus squirted out and hit me. It was not a good time, LOL.

Alright Serrin, make sure you have latex gloves....AN EXTRA PAIR AVAILABLE. Cut open all packaging ahead of time. Cut your vetwrap into strips ahead of time. Cut everything ahead of time! Keep extra papertowels available. Think you have enough papertowels? GET MORE. Don't forget your towel to cover the chicken. I forgot mine....and was all the way down the hill and used my sweater.

I may never wear it again, LOL.

It was really bad.....I worked on it for a while but couldn't ever find the 'pit' so to speak.

It was my first time working on a bumblefoot case, so its a work in progress......sigh......that poor crazy hen. I gave her a big bowl of "scratch"....which is half scratch and half BOSS.......and I stuck her in a brooder in the garage with a little heat lamp and some fresh shavings. So she will have a cushy few days......I'll put the wrapping thursday and recheck it.....don't plan on doing her other foot until this one looks better.

my LA200 doesnt' look right.....I am going to pick up a new bottle tomorrow. She probably does need injectible antibiotics....so I"ll start those tomorrow. They say no more than 4 days in a row, so that will be perfect timing to stop before my trip this weekend.

Same with penicillin ... 4 days in a row and that's it Tylan is 5 - 7 but not sure it will work for staph...it is more for respiratory stuff.

Oh Brandon they look fabulous! That Myrtle is gorgeous....I cannot wait to see her all grown up and see what her mottling looks like then. Cheyenne will be pleased to see that pic tomorrow...she so loved Myrtle when she was in the brooder here. Boone is gonna be a looker too...so far a handsome boy.
