Emily is definitely broody--she did pluck her breast feathers, but she keeps pushing or letting the eggs roll out from under her. I removed the two EE eggs so maybe she will be more comfortable with just five. She'd rather sit on my DH's hands when he reaches into the Firetower to rearrange her eggs, LOL. She came out, pooped bigtime and then went back in and ate and drank, at DH's urging, then is back on the eggs. It will be a miracle if these hatch.]
Took Nelda out in the garden in full sun. She flared her hackles then sank onto her side in the warmth, like she'd always do with a sunbath. She was breathing very slowly, laying on her side, then jumped up and walked out of the hottest area. Never opened her eyes. She refuses to drink, period, even with dripping water on her beak-it looks like she clamps her mouth shut on purpose. She is very dehydrated and I can't do an IV, obviously, so she will just pass on soon. I keep telling Tom we need to put her down, but he says every time he does that, he feels like he loses a little part of himself. No amount of logic, telling him it's for her, will fix that. I may have to do it myself, I guess.
