How many times have you heard the question, "Do Silkies roost?"
lau.gif

There is no ladder or ramp up to this roost .....

Kathy, I do so hope you sat down with a nice big cup of tea [maybe with some apricot brandy in it?] after all that chasing around of Mama EE and her girls. Sheesh woman! Did you TELL them where they were going? And how great it's gonna be once they get here? And about the oh so handsome rooster man who is patiently waiting to greet them and welcome them into our flock? Didn't you tell them all of these things? And they STILL put up a fight? Silly girls!

Well, not to worry. They're going to spend a nice 24 quiet hours in the pump house first so that they can relax from their trip. Maybe put their feet up, drink some sweet water, have a bit of scrambled eggs with cheese and yogurt, and just unwind. And after a few hours of pampering by me, maybe they'll come to like me and their new home.

I do hope so. I've waited so long to be able to welcome them into the fold. I really hope their trip is completely uneventful!

Thanks again for all of your patience Kathy, and for putting up with me being so wishy washy and all. You know I'm gonna do everything I can to insure that these three live a long, comfortable and carefree life here.

I wonder if Mama is going to take a shining to Chief right away?

I'm just so excited. I doubt I'm going to sleep very well tonight, knowing they are out there, somewhere, making their way steadily towards me!!

They are so sweet! Snowhunter, watch that stuffed animal you have in there. It has loose fuzz and they will start to pick at it and eat it. Looks like those could wrap around a tongue. I've had experience with stufffed animals and Delawares, which is why I try to choose UN-fuzzy stuffed animals. Those little goobers pick at everything!

OH!!! Thank you Cynthia, I appreciate that warning!!! I might hafta sew something up here in a minute, with an extra pillow case for em, then, so they have nut lil bits to pick at, LOL!! I must admit, of all the chicks I've got before, these lil Delawares are SUPER insanely active! I figure they'd all sleep after the journey, but NOOOOOOOOOO, they're bouncing around the brooder

Congrats Nicole! Good to see that yours arrived safe and sound. And oooooh! They're just sooooo cuuuuuuteee!!!

Now then, on that little so called "Queen of the Hill" you have there: You might want to slap a leg band on that one as soon as possible and keep a close eye on HIM! Yeah, my suspicions right away are that of a little cockerel there! I remember Chief and Brutus, from the tender age of three days old doing the "King of the Hill" routine in the brooder.
lol.png
As luck would have it, around that same time, someone else had made the comment of how early on little cockerels will assert their dominance by getting up on the tallest object they can find.
wink.png
So, tag that one and keep an eye on them. It just might turn out to be a sweet little roo!

You do understand that you must post weekly update pictures here, right? Beth needs them for the website and we need to drool!

Congrats again, and welcome to SDWD. You are now officially DOOMED!!

SnowHunter....they are adorable and you are soooooooooooooooo done for now. Cyn is right about that stuffed animal...Dellies put everything in their mouth...your shoelaces, your hair, your food, every shiny thing they can find, anything they have never seen before, they are ubber mouthy.

You can check your yard 100 times and find nothing, put one delaware out there and they will find a screw or a nut or something else they should not have.

They are worth it though.

I'm just enamoured with all of them!!!! I'm trying to let em be for a bit, so they can relax after the 36 hour trip here, but its SO hard!!!
th.gif
They're all so sweet and lovable!!! I'm planning on legbanding em later, when they get a bit bigger, so I know who came from where n such (I'm gettin more Delawares in the spring
fl.gif
) I hope they're as sweet as my lil EE cockrel (he snuggles big time)!!!!

I've been hooked, I'm a Dellie maniac now

I started working on my website last night. It has no actual info on it, but I did set the "style" so to speak......

http://www.thequackerbarrel.com

It's very slow......I need to downsize the graphics. And of course, ignore all of my strange comments. I was just filling the empty space. LOL.
