How is Henrietta now Beth? Is she comfortable? Is she relaxed? And how about you? How are you holding up? It has been a few hours, and I just wanted to let you know that you and Henrietta are on my mind.

Thank you, Amy and Gloria Jean. She is no better, no worse, but I think she likes the towel, it is much softer than her little hay nest.
I do not know how Cyn has been dealing with multiple sick girls. Just this one is knocking me flat.
Hey, go read my new Del thread in the breeds section, see if it makes sense.
I am so tired I can't think anymore.

Beth, I am so sorry! I haven't been keeping up with posts--lots of work and a few sick birds myself.

SOS Kathy! What are the symptoms of botulism? I think I poisoned the LIght Sussex!

Oh Beth, I can fully empathize with you.

I definitely know how draining it is to stand the last watch with one of our best little girls. It's surely one of the most emotionally draining times of our lives.

Hopefully for both you and Henrietta, the wait will not be a long one. As much as we never want to have to say goodbye, we don't want to see them suffer either. Don't worry about us. We'll be here when you're ready to rejoin us.

Just spend as much time with Henrietta as she and you want to.

I sure hope you are mistaken and that your birds will be just fine in time.

It's interesting that "botulism" should be mentioned. I just watched CSI Miami and the show was about food poisoning. Specifically corn genetically modified with a botulism gene. On the show a young guy ate it and died as a result.

What I find interesting is, in my reading of the Baker Creek Catalog is this statement. Quote " Each year we have a harder time getting seeds that test GMO free. It is getting to the point where most heirloom corn varieties test positive for GMO's. Even grower in remote areas are having problems with Monsanto's GMO corn".

How would chickens get botulism?

Rotten fruit? Rotten anything, I guess.

No change in Henrietta, maybe by morning-
Thank you, Cyn, I missed your post before.......
Thank you, Germaine, Amy, everyone.

Beth I hope Henrietta snuggles into her fresh soft towel and takes that long sleep. Poor dear. I have yet to face this situation firsthand, I only suffer through it with Cyn and now you....and trust me I am suffering too. I hate being helpless to help my feathered kids and I hate to see them sick.

Let us know how she is in the morning...prayers are on the winds for her peaceful passing.
