Well, since I no longer have ANY hens sitting on eggs, Cynthia's hens thought they would help out LOL.

I may have 29 babies on the ground under broodies, but no more hens on eggs. yay!

What a neat looking calf! Congrats!

Nicole! Congrats to Mama Cow on a job well done! Beautiful little baby.... boy?... girl? Ahem. Did you bother to check the sex while you were taking those pictures?

No matter. It's a darling little baby. Such interesting markings!

We have mostly brown, black, champagne, or white cattle around these parts. Mostly Herefords, Angus and Limousin. What breed is Mama and the wee babe? I've never seen patterning quite like that! Very pretty! What does Daddy look like? Inquiring minds are always wanting to know and nosier than all get-out!!

We're still frozen up here in WA this morning. This despite a high yesterday of 34. Thank heavens! I hate muddy, sloppy, slushy ground! I think a little later today I'm going to talk DH into driving me in to town so I can pick up the layer crumble that they were out of last Sunday, along with a 50 of DE so these poor darlings of mine have something to dust bathe in! They're looking so ragged lately on account of no place truly suitable to roll around in.

Cyn, what in heaven's name is that Nugget up to? Did she NOT get the memo. You know, the one on no brooding past September 1??!! Silly woman! Are you really going to let her get away with that? Hmmm...do I see a trip to the Fire Tower in Nugget's future?

Kathy, maybe when Lisette and Cosette grow up we'll be able to tell from their markings. They sure are gonna be purty girls, I can tell ya that much. Thank Brock for me for letting Maggie keep those eggs of hers!

Isn't it interesting how a chain of events can have such a wonderful and heart warming result! If not for Maggie being in with the Dels, there would have been no Delawegger eggs to be had. If not for Brock having ideas of his own on increasing your flock size, there would be no Lisette and Cosette. If not for you wanting to downsize, there would have been no suggestion of Maggie and her girls needing a new home. If not for me and my half joking/half serious bid to have them sent here, Lord only knows where they'd be now. If not for you Kathy, and your amazing generosity, I wouldn't have three of the most darling little ladies on the planet!

Thank you again dear lady! I love them with all of my heart.

Afternoon', all! The cleanup only got about fourt of my posts. That means I post well! OR it means I ask a lot of questions...

Cyn- That crazy girl! I had a "three day broody" last week... did I tell y'all about that? Pardon if I already did. One day she was sitting on some eggs, puffed up, growled and pecked me (this is Lily, 8 month old BSL), and then the next day I pushed her out and covered up the nest box so she went in the other nest for a day... I covered that one up too... and then she gave up

She's out now. Show's how "dedicated" she is for future reference!

I just had a blueberry smoothie

SnowHunter- Can I see a picture of your wheaten marans? I'm not recalling what they look like.

And the new calf is adorable! Congratulations!

I would be at school right now, but I had to leave early cause I... well... don't mean to be gross, but I sneezed blood many times and felt dizzy

Alright, I collected eggs and I got my first egg from my "white leghorn". Or so I thought?? She is from Belt Hatchery and they labeled her as a leghorn, but she layed a brown-ish egg. Does this mean she's a white ROCK? But she was specifically a leghorn! Is this possible? I don't have a picture. Unfortunately we had to throw the egg out because the top was cracked, though.

ETA: She's mean like a leghorn

And she has red earlobes.
