He was a freebie off CL actually. The main reason I picked him up, was we need a working dog to help herd animals, especially with two different properties of cows to keep up with. Much easier to bring a dog then buckle down the 4wheeler onto the trailer, hook up and drive down, unload, use extra gas, etc. So, I got him for his working sense, though he's melting my heart
I was only told he was a working dog. Not shown, so, I've got my fingers crossed
that he works like a trooper when the time comes
He does get very perky around the cows, which is a good sign!
I think he's been in a few rough times, poor guy. As I'm lovin on him and gettin to scratch him and find his spots, theres so many scratches and what seem like old wounds, with scar tissue...
He's 4 years old, so I was told. But he looks like very puppyish to me. He's so mild mannered though... its strange! I expected him to be bouncing off the walls in a new place... such excitement! Nope.. he's just as cool as a cucumber!
Thank you for that advice. I hadn't thought about rubbin him down with her fav blankie!!! I'll do that in the morning (She's sleepin on it right now!) Not that I was gonna hot shot her... As much of a curmudgeon as she is, she's my special girl
just a real grumpus at times
(reminds me of me in the morning before coffee
) I figure they'll "duke it out" and settle on some kind of understanding, hopefully the blankie trick helps! It makes sense too!
I was VERY relieved about him not caring about the chickens. After Splats escapade (She's cured now, though I'm watchful) I was very wary of that.
I wonder if his tail will grow back out, when he sheds his winter coat and grows in his spring coat? I had to cut most of the lovely feathering off, due to the matting with briars and burrs n such. He's so fluffy on his head neck and shoulders, but after that... its like theres just a thin layer of fur.
Groceries should help, and all dogs here are on puppy food, due to the workload/constant running they get (and the only way Leia keeps weight on)
Fatty, the housecat, is NOT a happy camper though... he's been slinking here n there since Roscoe got home
