It's a darn good thing they're so rare. Could you imagine some of the Frankenstein crosses Nella could come up with if she were to get her hands on a couple of those roos?!?!

Cross em with Leghorns! That's my default around here. Everything is better crossed with Leghorn! Well...if by better you mean lays better, yes. If you mean friendlier, er, uh, no.

If I had a flock of leghorns only, I would have more eggs than I knew what to do with and no feed bill. Those girls don't mess around, straight out of the coop they run to the far end of the yard under the trees and start bug hunting. Impressive.

Kathy, PLEASE don't tell me those are APA accepted. Horrifying monstrous living dinosaurs! Gross!!!!!! Idiot birds. I have seen them before and downright HATE them! If that wasn't obvious. Anyways, just my sweet little opinion.

Just found my first weird egg... Zucchini (EE) was in the nest box for over four hours and it came out with a normal shell 'except the glob of shell at then top that was hard but gooey on the inside.

I did NOT sell that!

Last 3 "extra" roosters went away tonight. Bantam partridge cochin, bull columbian cochin and silkie/ee roosters....adios!

Last 9 chickens will be leaving in the next week or so. That puts me at 37 adults. Yay!

40 - 50 in Layers coop
9 Barred Rocks
6 New Hampshire
10 others

Oh yeah, and ....
10 Silkies (do they count?)
