I will get some new pictures of the Oreo chicks tomorrow.
In May, I should have Delawares, Icelandics, New Hampshires, Silkies, and maybe I will take requests ahead of time for some of the others..... Coronation Sussex, Light Sussex, SLWyandottes, BLRW, Black-split-to-Lavender Ameraucanas, etc....

Well the plans are set Mom and myself will be flying to Ireland on May 4th for a nine day excursion!! I filed for my passport on Saturday and can't wait. I was trying to figure out how to smuggle in some cool chicken eggs to hatch, lol . I figure I will see chickens that I will fall in love with as we travel through the countryside, but laws are laws so I will just have to take tons of pictures to share. We have never travelled that far before so it will be huge trip for us.

I'm home! I'm about 15 pages behind, so give me a year or two to catch up. Had a great weekend up in Ohio and I got LOTS of cool stuff from Ikea. Did you know that their $8 little end tables are the perfect size for a foam incubator? Food for thought

They even had the red ones on clearance for $5.99 at this one (I got black ones for $8).

Apparently I missed some glorious 60ish degree weather here while I was gone. If nothing else, at least the chickens enjoyed it!

Honestly, I have 6 empty pens now, and I was thinking of using one for my black Ameraucana girls, Easter Eggers, Olive Egger, and put the Lavender Ameraucana cockerel in with them. I should go ahead and do that now, before I need all the pens for grow outs. Yea, I think I shall do that.

Wellllllllllllllllllllll, since you talked me into penning them, I suppose I could try to sex one by then. Do you know how hard that is???? Honestly, I can not sex a darn Ameraucana til they start crowing or laying. I am terrible at it! Well, thing is .... you really will want to have a male and a female, so you can mate them ya know. They will be black with the Lavender gene. Mate them and you will get 50% Lavenders and 50% blacks. You know that's what you wanna do!

Well on another subject I had a EE chick out of this last batch aka the screamer that I figured was a little different then the other two I hatched out of the same parents. I took a picture of him/her and compared to one of the older girls. I think Jack my Lav. Orp may be the father. Screamer is way lighter than the EEs and their other two chicks. What do you all think??

Screamer
