O heavens- Tim, I am absolutely a genius at getting other people to spend their money. I work for an interior decorator-
gig.gif
And thank you for posting that picture- *sigh* I LOVE sleeping babies! They are the only kind I know what to do with.

Cynthia, well, heavens, your old ladies home is, sadly, shrinking down. However, that stinker Shadow will need someone to keep her in line, so it might as well be Sunny! You need a little sign - "The Old Hen's Home" - then we can all visit you and sit in the coop with the old girls. Tim and Scott can come and be honorary hens.

Amy, that is one awesome fireplace- keep encouraging Tim. I am glad to hear Abby is still with you- does anyone have any ideas what is wrong with her?

Kathy-those little Del crosses are adorable- somehow Hedwig and Chipper and your babies, and who else was it had that Del/EE cross makes me want to start my own breed or something- and I like you autumn leaves- sweep them my way!

Cetawin- yes!! Pics!!

Do any of you know what breeds crossed equal black sex links? Belle looks just like my two BSL's- my ignorance that I don't know what crosses qualify, but if no one has done it before, evidently Blue Orps and Delawares make them.

Okay got pics uploaded...But first rancher that is a gorgeous picture of Darcy and her father...make sure nothing happens to that picture because she will want it when she grows up.

On to chicken stuffs...

First is d'Artagnan aka Dar, my very dark blue cockerel from Suede and Smoky. Dar is named after the 4th Musketeer known for his leadership and skill...traits I pray Dar has.

A lavender orp chick that is in the care of our ER facility (ie...my kitchen and Cheyenne's bedroom). Poor little thing had half of it's wing bitten/torn off, we are nursing it back to health for Sarah. We suspect either one of her kittens or the puppy, whatever it was killed one baby and injured this one. but with Sarah's Rottie, Precious, on patrol, it had to be a familiar animal to get that close.

I want to know something about these EE's. Kathy, the cheek puffs on your two little youngsters is quite apparent. When Sonic and Esther hatched, it was several weeks before they started to develop their cheek fluff. Is this normal? Or is each bird different as to when they begin to show their EE blood? Just a curiosity thing ya know.

Well, Abby isn't doing any better, despite spending the entire day in the nice quiet and cozy pump house. She did eat just a minuscule amount of wild bird seed, but drank quite well. I'm beginning to think that maybe she has a blockage in her digestive system somewhere. Seems to me that if that were the case, it might explain the regurgitation of the clear brown liquid, of which she tossed up about a teaspoon worth of this afternoon. If anyone has any ideas, I'm completely receptive to hearing them! And maybe just a tiny prayer for her as well. She's such a sweet little lady.

I'm going to see if she has enough appetite for apple here in a few minutes. It has always been one of her favorites.

Sorry about your girl Amy.

I sure hope whatever it is gets fixed and she is out and about again. Could she have eaten something bad?

Kathy they do remind me of Hedwig as a chicklet. Cute little things.

I do think Dar is blue, very dark blue. Now, we need to name your cute blue girl, don't we? Perhaps Maya?

Maya Blue (Spanish: Azul Maya) is a unique bright azure blue pigment manufactured by cultures of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, such as the Maya and Aztec.

Please tell Delilah not to try to dub herself again--she might succeed next time!

No ideas on your hen, Amy, sorry.

ooooohhhhh Maya it is, I like that! Ya think Hedwig is a girlie? Did ya notice the eye color on both of those orp babies? hehehehe

DeDe is behaving herself now that she has been released from the horrid prison cell dog crate and the humiliation of quarantine. LOL I will never figure out how she did it or on what.

On the subject of DeDe for those of you who do not already know about this....I have a neighbor that is well he is well
rant.gif
Anywho he was here a few days ago in the morning...the girls were running amuck as is their habit first thing...and DeDe charges by and he says "Oh wow she is a big beautiful girl, love her comb and look, what is she?" Moi not having had enough coffee to be truly human that morning says "A South American Orp". Neighbor says "Oh I would love some of her babies"...reply "Sorry I do not have a boy in her breed".

Now why South American Orp? well DeDe came from speckledhen, therefore she came from the South portion of America and is an orp...so

Now if only Thor had lived long enough for me to create my splash feather legged, feather footed orp, I could breed them to my South American Orp and get a third new breed.

Thank you LadyHawk. Me too. I hate to ever see any one of our babies suffer.

Regardless of if she's mine or yours, Cyn's or Kathy's......it all hurts. I can't even begin to imagine anything she might have gotten hold of. We don't have any knapweed, tansy, or kosha on the property, and certainly nothing even remotely poisonous around or near the coop. At least nothing that I am aware of. But, being as we've been working on the house and some of the scrap materials that we toss into the burn pit might be less than digestible, I suppose anything is possible.

*sigh*

Love all the new pictures Cetawin!
hugs.gif
And I think I'm liking the name of your new little boy. (
fl.gif
) You could take that one letter further and call him Dart too ya know!
wink.png
And once he starts really running all over the place, it would probably be a very fitting name!
lol.png

That poor little baby with the chewed wing!
th.gif
How much of her wing is actually missing? Did the culprit actually make off with half of the structure of her wing? Or just the feathers there of? I'm sorry...I just can't tell from the pictures. My eyes ain't what they used to be ya know.
wink.png
Hopefully she isn't any worse off than needing a touch of Neosporin and some quiet time.

Prayers for a speedy recovery on their way dear lady! But I know she's already in some of the best hands any little injured critter could be!
