Scott I am so sorry. Emily is heading towards Haiti and is expected to do a 100 mile off the coast run so maybe ?

Cyn so sorry to hear you are feeling bad. I have migraines occ. Not like the ones I use to have though. I found what helps me to manage them. I never drank coffee until someone told me to start my day with two cups. Not to lie down flat and to use cold instead of heat. I know it sounds weird but it helped and they gradually got easier to manage. I keep a bit of pressure feeling but i am functional and comfortable with them now. They were terrible in my 40's and early 50's. I took way to many pain pills then for them and after awhile they no longer had any affect except to make them come back worse. I still do not understand how someone could hurt so bad and not have a major problem with the brain. It totally escapse me. Get better quick. Gloria Jean

I do all that, GJ. This was brought on by heat and stress, I'm sure. The three girls sound just as bad this morning. I'm afraid this isn't going to end well.

I feel like I've been hit by a truck.

Cyn, The mg's color our moods soooooo much and our stress level adds to it esp . as we relax. Not during but as we sleep they say. I noticed it as well. If I have company or get excited , then next morning I am more likely to have them. Or if I take anything for pain of arthritus or other pain med. I will relapse. Bummmer for sure. I have to endure alot and I am sure you do too.
Our hens are our escape and when I lost mine I think I kept a headache except when I was working on the coop. I know like Lh said you are not going to like this but it is best if they do not suffer so and get out of it quickly. You have given them a soupper good life. You have feed the best, provided the most love of anyone I know of. Let that be a comfort to you. Love so much Gloria Jean

Dang it Cyn! Here I've been lecturing LH on taking extra good care of herself, when it's YOU I should have been fussing at! I sure hope you start feeling much better soon dear lady.

Please, take it easy on yourself. As for those sweet girls of yours....

.... What will be, will be. I'm in total agreement with Gloria Jean. You've given them the most marvelous life any chicken could ever hope for. In my next life, I'd like to be a hen in your flock!

I called LH this morning. I think they have aspergillosis, sometimes called brooder pneumonia, from the humid, hot conditions and possibly some wet straw that may have harbored the spores, so it's a fungal condition. These were the three that were panting so heavily, sucking in all that moist air and with it, whatever spores were in that straw (wet from us wetting down the pen and birds to keep them cool). I misted them in their faces with Oxine water and they have oxine in their drinking water as well. It's known to kill every bacteria and fungus so maybe this will help.

I sure hope that is what it is and the oxine helps quick. Remember you can also get the stuff. Wear your mask when you clean up and be careful. Watch for any fever in you and hb too. Take care Gloria Jean
