Well just got in from rounding the girls back into the pen and Big Willy (my B.O. rooster) tried to attack me and I just punted him across the yard. He came back for seconds and I let him have it again. Told him hes living on borrowed time. I'm not gonna keep putting up with that crap!
Omigosh, you won't believe this. Isaac was chasing Bandit! We put the two broodies in the main coop with their respective babies last night. They've been ranging with the flock just fine. Well, this morning when DH went in to do the coop chores, Isaac was chasing little Bandit, just 9 weeks old, all over the coop! Hawkeye nor Dutch would have dreamed of doing that to a chick. Not sure why he was doing it, but it's not acceptable at all. Today, we will move the two broodies with babies into the old ladies coop, which has only six hens in there, four of which have raised babies in the past. There's no rooster to contend with and Lexie and Reba never pay attention to kids around here at all, so they'll be safer in there and the feeder is low and contains a mix of layer crumble and chick starter anyway. Only two hens of the six are even laying. Amazing.
This morning we put blue boy and Bandit into the Firetower to get some food and water without harrassment, but Nora literally wailed her heart out. It was pitiful! So, I'm delaying their rehoming till Nora and Panda are less stressed by their babies' absences.
Well now Cyn give Isaac some leeway...the babies were not raised in there with him and he probably does not understand the whole kid thing....that is a male invading his space...I think if he sees babies hatch and they are there for him to protect he might be different about it? Possibly?
OH come one guys help me get Isaac out of trouble...I do not want that boy grounded.
