I know nothing about rocks, but sure do like that no band boy. Maybe you should name them all after big band leaders- ????

Can I ask a question here? Anytime I post on other threads with serious questions, I rarely get an answer unless it's from some of you anyway. Both my black Orp girls started laying at about 5 1/2 months, which surprised me. I thought it was a little early for Orps. Katia has continued to lay steadily and well - 5-6 eggs a week. Valentina laid about 3 almost white eggs a week for maybe 3 - 4 weeks and then stopped. I haven't had an egg from her in over a month. I checked to see if anything was stuck, nada. She seems fine otherwise, although her tail tends to be down rather than up. Isn't she too young to have internal egg issues? Any ideas?

Beth, she isn't too young for internal laying issues, though they usually begin around two years of age or older. I sure hope it's not that!!

I have selected my best 3 Columbian rock cockerels and my best 3 BR cockerels for breeding purposes next yr. One of the BRs will be going to Kathy with 2 pullets

It's the molting time of year, so maybe that is her issue. A lot of my girls look okay but if you actually go though their feathers, they have pinfeathers here and there underneath. Mini-molts.

Those are some handsome boys. I'm liking the looks of the Blue boy myself. Cute idea Kathy, in naming them after big band leaders. Lemme see, there was Artie Shaw, you could call one just simply Artie. And then there was Glenn Miller, and how about Tommy Dorsey? All great Big Band leaders and would make some nifty BR roo names!

Oooh! I know! Cab Callaway!!! Desi Arnez!! And them are just off the top of my head!

Well, I will check her for a mini molt! There have not been any feathers floating around in there.

Kathy, I think when they hold their tails down it is a sign something is wrong. Her comb never got really red, and her vent is not real pink, either.

BUT Silkie and Satin are both laying: Cyn, tell Suede to be proud of his girls!

Satin- she seems heavily feathered on her face, it makes her look gypsyish from a distance, but I don't think she is? Correct me if I am wrong.

Boo is slowly but surely getting barring on his chest, too, just not his back yet. I wonder if he will molt into it?
