I just went to narrowgatepoultry.com. Something about that title made me wonder.

Kathy, ask her WHY there would be feathers on the shanks. If she can't come up with a genetically sound reason, then either these people do NOT know what they are doing, or THEY have been misled by whoever they got their stock from, or they are cheating people and need to read their own Bible quotes on their site.

Sorry, but I get SO mad at people who quote the Bible and don't act on it. I am not a perfect person by any way shape or means, but I get really angry at people who claim to be Christian and do this sort of thing- the stink rubs off on the rest of us who are trying our best to follow Christ.

"Be angry but do not sin". Sorry, off my soap box and back on the topic.

Is there ANY birds used in the development of the Coros that would be responsible for the leg feathers? Is any one else breeding them complaining about that? If that is so, then people need to cull more seriously, or warn the people that buy eggs that this may happen. If not, if there is no reason for the feathering, then this person needs to do something to make this good. NOW.

Uuuggghhhhh....what a day! Sugar has decided she is DONE sitting on eggs. I took the chicks from her, but all she does is walk around in the run calling for them.....

So, I have rescued the eggs and put them in the 'bator. I hear one peeping in there and I have 1 pipped. Hoping that she wasn't off them too long.

Weather here is HOT and yukky today....we need rain BADLY. The food plot where the chooks roam has become a bit "crunchy" and a lot brown...leaves are falling like crazy. Seem to have just dried up and started falling.....so much for a colorful Fall here

Kathy - keep us updated on the coronation situation. This woman is BAD NEWS and appears at least to be a bit "unethical" in her business dealings.

Size is also relative to bloodline. My millies are heritage, and they are smaller than the hatchery lavenders I have, and lay smaller eggs than the lavs, too. They are much more mature before they lay, too

But they make very pretty eye-candy pets!

Nella's shoulder feather issue is a different story, though. That's a bad flaw and very hereditary. I had a roo that threw them and he took a dirt nap (actually, he went to freezer camp for the raptor rehab center).

Ya'll think I am crazy well look at this and you shall see I am not. I would never mess with prehistoric creature that size...however I would shoot it if it were coming at me.

Woman Shoot ???

Ha ha ha, yours are normal and mine are retarded. Hatcheryretarded, that is. I don't want to breed d'uccles, so don't mind letting the little porcelain guy run around here.......he'll probably get eaten by a hawk before the winter is over, but whatcha gonna do? It's not like he is taking up too much space in the half acre chicken yard, ha ha ha. If I actually catch him breeding the girls, he will have to go to the rooster pen so I don't get messed up crosses. Currently all my bantam rooster are cochins, and all my standard roosters are cochins except one gorgeous blue wheaten ameracauna. So it something hatches bearded, it is his and may lay green eggs. Everything else is cochin, although I may have some half bantam, half standard birds. I have some huge silkie mixes. What do you get when you cross a white silkie hen and a standard EE rooster?

SILEES

Ladyhawk- it will be great fun to hang out!

I have 2 girls that did well at the show but that may have to find a new home soon. They'd be about a week or so older than your pair. If there's a sale in KY 10/16 I may be there to clear more birds to make room for a potential plethora of millies.

And I'm planning to go to the Ohio Nationals in November. DH and I have been kicking the idea around and he is not opposed as long as we don't have to make the trip with birds (this year).
After hauling birds to and from the local fair show, he is tired of the van smelling like sport...
