Beth - neat pix...now, can you explain to me the difference between Orps from here and "English orps"?? I am clueless

Kathy - as promised, here are pix of the trio I'm sending to you. Along with these promises:

1. NO feathered shanks
2. NO splits
3. NO hassles, LOL

Anyway, there are 2 pullets, one banded orange, one banded with white bands twice. I selected these for a couple things. First, best yellow legs. Then size and long flat backs

And here is the cockerel, "yellow banded" of course!! First selected for YELLOW legs. He has the best yellow legs in my whole bunch...and look at 'em, he last legs like tree trunks!! Also wanted him to have good wing carriage. I had a gentleman who is an APA judge look at him and my others and he got great reviews, although he did say he was "really to young" to properly grade.

I have five BR hens left, but Lexie is going on 5 yrs old, has arthritic feet and isn't laying. Becca and Amanda are 3 years old, then Fern is almost 2 and her daughter, Barbara, is probably 32 weeks or so old. Of course, I rehomed Dutch so I only have crippled Zane, so no BR rooster who can breed. Hopefully, by the time I'm ready for more BRs, I'll have at least a couple of BR hens left and laying.

Scott, those birds are STUNNING - I may become a convert! Kathy, you are going to enjoy working with those kids.

Justuschickens and her DH spent two years importing eggs from BBS Orpingtons in England and finally got two to hatch, one roo, one hen. They are called English Orps because they are! The look is fluffier and flouncier than the American one- there is a thread in the breeds section with great pics.

Yard full o' rocks :

HOLY ROLLY....those girls are REALLY fluffy!!

Kathy, the BRs are 17 weeks old tomorrow, so we wont be waitin' too long for eggs! Your girls can't start laying first though...
