Kathy, I think I need a care package. Those babies are just adorable!!

Yes, Jezebel is the black kitty. Somewhere I have a pic of her tolerating the millie chick I set on her. Have to find that one...

We have an outdoor cat. Came from the ex's house and is NOT a good housecat. So she stays outside. She slept in the basement bathroom on the really bad days last winter, but that didn't go well. But she loved being in the coop off and on last winter, so I'm setting her up her own space in there this fall. Take THAT, darn mousies!
Fuzzy is a good mouser. The only problem with her is that if she can get into a coop, she loves laying on the ledge for the pop door. Her own personal kitty-sized porch. The chickens don't know how to get past this furry invader.

Sorry about the bumblefoot Nella. There's a good thread on here with pics. Will see if I can find it...

Yard full o' rocks :

Anyone have outside kittys and do they do ok? I'd probably have to build them a heated "cat house" for sleeping in during the winter. I couldn't stand for them to be cold

BTW - morning everyone!!!

Morning! Scott, our cat is an outside cat. She was an outside cat that wandered into our barn last April and has been here ever since. She does fine outside. I will put her a little box with a bed in it on the front porch this winter. I am working on trying to litter box trainer her so if it is really bad outside, I can leave the garage door cracked for her to come and go with a litter box in there. But she loves it outside...and will only come inside for a few minutes and then she wants back outside.

The strays around here are not doing a great job mousing for me, though I do see them making the rounds on my deck on occasion. There are mouse droppings all over the place. I may need me an outside barn cat myself one day if this keeps up, one that will stick around home for us. The ones I see may or may not be actual strays but I haven't seen one single cat with a collar on.

I grew up on a dairy farm where there were tons of cats that slept in the barn - granted cows put out some heat, but they would be fine in your area of GA, I should think. My cats are superfine with the chickens, too. Julian the Mighty sleeps in the netting over the runs, as if it's his hammock, and Miss Kitty sleeps in the yard where the free rangers USED to peck at bird seed under the feeders and they never minded each other.

HEY! Marty and I are trying to get the Delaware club up and functional - he needs help with the website. Anyone got any expertise in that area? I want to help organize membership, but have never started a club before - any advice? I know we need dues, and newsletters and a chat area for meetings, since we are all over the country- I have been every officer in the book in clubs before, but have never actually started one.

Cynthia, would BYC have a problem if I used the Delaware Dilemma thread or the Show off Your Delawares thread to try to organize a bit, or post info till we can get the website operating more efficiently?

Woman! You put those in my box and you do so at your own peril! Don't you EVEN think about it! Good grief! I'm trying to sneak these past Denny's notice. How am I gonna do that with 8 more little fur balls running amok?!?!?

Mama EE and her two girls can blend in. In DH's head, he'd just think he was seeing things. Put Mama Silkie and 7 wee ones in there and he's going to KNOW that something is up!

Noooooooooo, I think maybe we'd better pass on the idea of little mother fur ball and her little brood of fur ball wannabees!

Though they are nearly irresistible. I'm going to have a hard enough time explaining the Mama EE and two babies as it is!

Send them to Wegotchickens! She wants them!!

Sorry about no report last night. I actually got to bed fairly early last night!

And still managed to oversleep this morning!

I'll fill y'all in on the details later tonight. Have a great day everyone.

Thank you, Cynthia, BYC is where we all are at this point, till we can find a chat place or get the web site more organized!

Hey, when I see how far you are on the quilt, and see it on a bed, I LIKE the white- everything pops just beautifully!

Cats .... yuk, I hate cats. Well, I don't really hate them, I just prefer dogs. Cats give me the willies when they rub up against me. We have one cat .... She came with us from Iowa when we moved here to Missouri (against my preference). When we moved there was hair all over the place in the old house. I would not allow this cat in our new home. Even though she is declawed, she lives happily outside and in the garage, preferring outside (but comes inside to use the garage kitty litter box!).

I think my father instilled in me that animals belonged outside. He would never allow dogs or cats in the house. He insisted they would get hair in our food, and he was adamant. Funny thing, before he died in 1999 he had a house dog with his new wife.

(My mother died in 1979)

I should get a picture of our cat. People say she is huge. I dunno. An appliance repairman came by one time and said he had never seen such a big fat cat.

Cyn, I am lovin' that quilt!

Beth -

1. I have experience in website construction and the html language; time is another issue
2. Place to meet and chat....check out Chatzy.com free chatrooms that can be private or not; used them when doing my CLEs
3. We need our flag Beth *snicker*

I am not a cat fan either but I really love the cat that adopted us....she is a great hunter and she is great with the birds....she even guards them!

Got home one evening after being out to dinner and called "Angel" to feed her. She did not come up which was odd so I started looking for her with the flashlight....she was nowhere outside the barn or in the barn so I started looking around the house...I heard her meowing near the chicken coop and I laid down on the ground with the flashlight and there she was under the coop, completely hiding one of the EEs who was on the ground in the L shaped space made by the concrete blocks leveling the coop. Sandy had apparently scooted out past Cheyenne when she locked up and she was under the coop bedding down so Angel laid right up against her guarding her. I put Sandy in the coop and fed Angel. she is always laying around among them watching stuff.

While I prefer my dogs, I am keeping my little fuzzy hunter.
