Ya know Kathy, if I could, I would take those Icelandic off of your hands in a heart beat.
But you already know what I had to go through to be able to take on Maggie and the girls. And I'm so glad I did!! And I'm so glad that you had the room and ability to wait so patiently for me to be ready.
Have I told you Maggie's latest little charmer maneuver? She likes to get up on my shoulder in the mornings while I clean, just like Rita used to do, and just talks up a storm at me!
All the while, Cosette and Lisette are griping about the fact that their special dish of breakfast hasn't arrived yet!
Anyhow, if it weren't the dead of winter, and I wasn't already busting at the seams here, with just enough room come spring to make way for a few eggs for Maggie to hatch out, should she decide to go broody, I'd take on those Icelandic. They're an amazing breed! And you're right! They are definitely one in need of preserving and nurturing along. I'm afraid I could never do justice to having them however, as I'm not set up to have multiple flocks who can be kept separate from each other and thereby maintain purity of blood lines. Oh how I wish I could!
I'd have purebred Del's of course! And BLRW's! And BO's! And Icelandic! And just for the heck of it, I'd have me a flock of NJG's, just for the fun of the sheer
size of them!! Let's see a Cooper Hawk try to pick up one of those and cart it off!!
Something tells me they wouldn't even try! Heck, that young Cooper that has been hanging around here, harassing the wild Quail, won't even give the boys a second look. It knows they are more than a match for him/her!
Anyhow dear, you have a safe and fun trip! I hope you're back home, safe and sound, long before the temperatures dip below the freezing mark. Don't forget the camera and fresh batteries either! You just know we're gonna want to see pictures of all of the breeders you're bringing home for your projects!!
Safe travels my friend. We'll talk again when you return.
