I AM SO EXCITED ! !

I just hatched my first Ringlet strain Barred Rock! I only had one fertile egg in there..... and it just NOW hatched!

I also hatched 4 project chicks and have 4 more pips (only had 8 eggs in this time). Add them to the other 2 = 10 project birds. It is working just as the genetics experts told me, too. They are all (100%) barred. Well, so far anyway. Doug Akers got that Delaware on his first cross ya know (50% barred and 50% white or Del). According to the genetics experts, his Barred Rock had to be a mix somewhere in his background. I know mine have never been mixed, and it is going as expected (so far).....

I SO HOPE this works!

for the Ringlets!

I can't not name my birds! I've tried. The closest I came was when I had three very dark RIR hens and I called them all 'Cherry' because I couldn't tell them apart no matter how I tried.

Look at Riley's son! Looks like he may have white skin like his grandma Charlotte, my blue Ameraucana. Riley, her daughter, and of course, Isaac, both are yellow legged.

And the D'uccles, Beau, JoBeth and Lizzie. I think JoBeth will be the larger pullet. She seems lighter than the other two.

Cyn,
They look great!

I like Riley's son. Boy, she makes they neatest chicks!

My first Ringlet Barred Rock chick .... still not totally fluffed up. In comparison with the others, I see a huge head.

I am pretty sure it is male.

Ok, everyone please bare with me while I rant....

We have picked up COBRA insurance while I have been unemployed. We pay the premiums each month via on-line payment. Jennifer received a call from the dermatologist yesterday stating "our insurance had been canceled". So, I contact the insurance company today (weren't open yesterday....of course) and was told that I must submit a "letter requesting a review". Bottom line is that when I paid the premium in Dec, it didn't go thru. Never thought twice about it as its never been a problem before.

So, I submit "letter" (via email), explain situation, honestly expecting a note back that says "get your payment in and all will be fine". BUT NO.....Get an email letter back stating that "Federal guidelines governing COBRA are quite stringent and thus your request is denied".......UUUGGGHHHH

So, we have been without medical coverage SINCE Nov 30 (unbeknown to us!!), and had several Dr apptmts and RXs filled in December....what a mess!

I am going to try to reach a supervisor or mgr, but I truly doubt that I will get anywhere with them either

What a day....
