Just stopping by on my weary way to bed. Been a long day and the night is already too long by half. Not much of any changes in the flock to report. Still some sneezing and coughing like sounds from Chief and the girls. Strangely enough, they always sound their worst at night, but during the day, while they're running all over the place, they sound pretty good. I'm beginning to have my suspicions about the pine shavings I'm using. I may pick up a new bale from another feed store in the near future and see if that helps the situation.
GeeGee got confused again this morning when she returned to her eggs, but it was alright as Ivy was filling in for her. She snuggled down on the eggs in the next nest box, but she knew those weren't HER eggs! And as soon as Ivy finished up her business and hopped out, GeeGee scampered around the corner and took stock of HER nest. One very content little lady when I checked on them this evening to tuck them in and lock them up.
If I can just squeeze in the time to make her a door and take out the one divider, or maybe both, and give her extra room, I know she won't have any more problems with confusion over which is her nest and which is not. Nor will any of the other girls be able to sneak in any more eggs on that poor child! Granted, she's the second largest hen I have, but that doesn't mean she should be expected to do everyone else's work!
Scott, I'm saying some very fervent prayers over here. I so hope that this is it! That this is the job that God wants you to have, and where He wants you to be. You so deserve to have the peace of mind and stability that comes from being gainfully employed. Here's keeping my fingers crossed that it will also include a good medical package as well!
Laura, attitude is everything in a situation like yours. And from what I can see, yours is perfectly suited to what may lay ahead of you!
You are in my prayers as well. I hope they can have everything taken care of quickly and that your recovery is even swifter! Please, keep us posted on how you're doing!
Kathy, how are them peeps coming along? We need an update woman!!
