One of our members who hasn't been here in awhile, Zuni Bee, liked them so much when he hatched them from eggs I sent, he kept a trio to keep breeding them. Never saw what happened with that project, but they were handsome roosters. I'll see if I can find a pic of one.

Okay, I cleaned the brooder. And I switched to paper towels. Which is nasty because the poop just stays there.

LH, I trimmed butt fluff today on Suede and the Suede-ettes. O. M. G. I almost couldn't find Smoky's vent! You have to trim below the vent on males and above the vent on the hens so you have to locate it, LOL! Those are some fluffy women, not to mention the big guy! I want to wait to incubate anymore of them till I do the big hatch in March, though.

I also crawled under the coop to finish wrapping the 2x4 welded wire with some chicken wire so little ones cannot get out of the fence when we put them and Nugget in with the old ladies.

Nick, you can put those little monsters on shavings. They won't eat much of it and it will be less smelly. They're really getting loads of color in their wings!

Yeah Cyn, give the old man (the Suedenator) a vacation..... It may take him til March...... slow and steady for the old fella

Now, if you want babies now, just send the ladies to visit my Isaac! He's da man! No messin' around.

About Nick's chicks in the picture .... here is my prediction .... see the 3 looking up at the camera? I predict 3 roosters and 2 pullets.

Thanks Kathy! I was thinking that also.

Naaw, no, nope! Ya got that backwards Kathy! It's the girls that are always all up in your face. The boys tend to hang back just a little bit, usually seeking out the higher ground from which to proclaim their dominion over all that they see! Watch for the ones that just have to perch on top of anything above floor level Nick. Those are your roosters!

Trust me on this one. All five of my boys did this in their first week. Consistently! That's how I knew they were roos before any other clues were evident!
