Can you believe it? And there alot of rare breeds there - Long Crowers - some of the most beautiful birds i have seen - tried to bid on a few EE hens but they quickly went to 28.50 a hen! I know i should be ashamed - nothing "spoke " to me and there were no Delawares either - this is where i got my first ones! IF you wanted Belgian D'Uccles - tons and all went for about 3 bucks each. Some really nice Light sussex though Kathy!

I tried to get a picture of the island in the lake. Can you see where one of the nests is?

Wow, Knox! Good job! Sounds like a fun auction, though.

Kathy, I can't see the nest, unless it's that thing poking out of the water, which I don't think it is.

Knox you did great. I would have come home with d'uccles. Knox where was this auction? There is one in Ohio an Amish auction a couple hours from here I want to go to.

Nella I am ignoring the bunny posting...

Kathy those chicks are adorable.

Well I have all my cages and all the odds and ends ready. So all I have to do is throw the chickens in and load momma's car and I will be headed North to Sadieville in the am. Hopefully all these birds will find good homes tomorrow

Amy, that really looks like it might work for Chief. I am glad you are happy with it and y'all are too kind. I get a lot of enjoyment making these. So you have made me happy!

Kathy, what a bunch of cute chicks and look... you even let the feather dusters out to get some air

I love the pics of the lake too.

Nick, I believe Emmett is a rabbit.

Inkheart, I am proud of you, you showed great restraint!

Today would have been my Mama's 68th birthday and I spent the day with my childhood friend. My Mama really liked this particular friend and she would have beeen so happy to know that we have found each other after all these years and even more so that we just live 38 miles from each other. We were best friends when we lived in GA!

Hey Laura!

I'm glad you got to go through with your plans to celebrate Mama's birthday with your best friend! How was the weather? Hope you got a better day for it than we had here. My plans for putting Chief back into his Dickie and sending him out to play kind of got washed out along with the all day rainstorm we had here.

*sigh* Will spring ever get here? They're even talking about the possibility of snow here tonight!

And speaking of auctions....there's a farm auction just across the Idaho border tomorrow. Denny wants to go to it, but I'm having second thoughts on account of the weather forecast. I'd just as soon make a run to Home Depot for more thin-set mortar and get back to my kitchen/dining room tile job, TYVM! Standing around in the freezing rain, maybe snow, and howling winds just to get outbid by some nut job who really wants that used fencing, is NOT my idea of a good time!

Having said that, there's another farm auction coming up on the 13th that is a lot closer to home and has a lot more of what we're looking for, for the house and the coops.

And since it's in the middle of the week, chances are that there would be far fewer people at that auction!

Nick, Emmett is a young domestic boy rabbit that someone dumped out here. We have it happen more often than we'd care to count. Denny caught him in the live trap a few weeks ago, and he has been in the upper unit of my Nella Brooder ever since. You want him? You're welcome to him!

Kathy! I am absolutely pea green with envy of that lake/pond in your back yard!

So often have I said how completely perfect our place would be if it only had a body of water like that on it! We've even talked about building a windmill to pump water from about 15 feet down [non-potable in other words] and use it to keep a largish pond full. Folks do that a lot out here for cattle and such, but I'd do it just to have the geese take up residency in the meadow! Great pictures! Thanks for making me turn green!

Knox, I'm proud of ya boy! It shows real restraint on your part not to scoop up everything you could get your hands on! Much as we would all like to have as many chickens as days of the year in our flocks, there comes a point where we have to grow up and realize that we need to be selective. It's a lot easier said than done, isn't it?

It's a good thing I have Denny in my case. Otherwise I'd be completely overrun with chooks of every size, color and type imaginable!

Brandon, you drive careful now! And good luck on finding homes for all the birds you're taking to the swap!

I LOVE oops paint from Home Depot. I have been checking ours frequently for some paint for my brooder projects. There has been none! I think the weather has just been too cold for exterior painting. We have been WET this week, but are suppose to be DRY and WARM this weekend.

Maybe the fine folks at Home Depot will mess up some paint for me
