My brother had a Rott - a retired military dog - he was HUGE but so sweet - a big lug . When my nieces were wee ones he would lie at their cribs - when they cried he would run and get someone and not stop till they came and checked on the baby. BUT if someone came to the house or thru the door unannounced and he didnt know them? Whoa - NOT pretty - I walked him a few times in their hood and let me tell you people crossed the street eveytime they saw us not knowing how sweet he was .

Yard full o' rocks :

Morning all

Off today for Good Friday. Gotta try to get some yard work and "chicken chores" done today as we have relatives coming in for the weekend. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful Easter weekend

Celebrate Good Friday.....without Good Friday there can be no Easter Sunday!!!

Take care

Scott not sure how things are with the eggs. Trish is hatching them for me. Should be any day now. Hoping for a least 50%. Building a new hoop coop just for them.

Serrin- I know the bible says there always will be summer and winter but I just can't bring myself to like the snow. Ok just not so much snow. We had snow yesterday and I'm just tired. I'd like some dry for a change.

Hope you all have a nice holiday.

Nella, I hope that you have fun at LH's!

LH oh you chicken thief! LOL. Great pictures, I am such a dog person.

Well I have news on my hatch... Candled... it's day 14.... Well I set 96 eggs and have 40 left. That's okay. I just need more experience with my hovabators, I guess. I know what I did wrong. PLUS I found a rotten egg with yolk on it. Moved all eggs to one bator, the one where that egg wasn't.

I...

-handled too much on day #1
-let the eggs sit for too long
-set eggs right when I got back from the beach... I was still in vacation mode, I guess.
-Added too much water
-Didn't know how well my new hygrometers worked

I take blame. Oh well. Now that I know my mistakes, I expect my next hatch to be better!

Also, it is a great day! I got a great haircut (LH.... My hair is no longer a sticker bush! LOL), the grass seed is growing in the yard, I haven't had to water the produce since it rained yesterday, it's humid so no water needing to be add to the bators, everyone was in a good mood today. And tonight, I can watch an episode of this mystery show on AMC. It is really weird, but I saw part of an episode and got hooked into the mystery.

Oh, really, I don't mind. I didn't expect this hatch to be great. I'm happy with what I get, and hope to get more next time!

Shipped eggs are always a crap shoot, always. If they had an extra smooth ride to you, they'll hatch better than if they were tossed around like footballs. And you have absolutely no control over that. Incubating has quite a learning curve to it, not to mention, finding accurate instruments to measure temp and humidity. So, you're doing well, Nick.
