Kathy that sure is a pretty girl, is she an EE? Also Bryan wanted to know if all those eggs were from one day of collecting?

Amy, I can't wait to see the pics!

Bryan took down the garden fencing and I have been rolling it up. I am kind of sad about it but I no longer need such a huge garden. I can however re use the fence for more chicken runs.

Yes, that is an Easter Egger.

I usually get 4-5 dozen eggs a day right now. Barred Rocks are molting and one is broody, so I get hardly nothing there! The Delaware pullets are still not laying, so nothing there. I have a bunch of kids that should be laying any minute now!

What is with the weird eggs today? After I found these 2 eggs pictured, ON THE GROUND, I found an Easter Egger on the nest. So I waited a while, and then gave up. I went back a while later and found a tan egg in the nest. Hmmm, just wondering now...

Strange looking eggs for sure.
I am getting about 5 a day right now. I have only gotten the two Icelandic eggs so far. I believe that the Delaware pullet is laying nearly every day. I have 9 adult hens but some of them aren't laying for some reason.

Kathy those eggs look like they were lying on moisture...that is what usually causes that oval shaped discoloration.

As to that Boy watching me...he can watch all the way here to Kentucky iffin he wants to..he is a handsome dude...he will only have to whoop up on Lancelot to stay

Isaac seems to be accepting Ranger's presence. He hasn't chased him one single time, even when Ranger was brushing up against him while pacing the fence. Hope it stays that way!

ETA: Tonight, when Ranger and the Buff girls went inside the coop (Ike was already in and settled on his special roost in the original side), the other hens started hassling Ranger. Ranger jumped up on the roost right beside Isaac and stood there. Ike looked up at him, then turned away and settled back down! Then, Ranger jumped down and made his way up the main roost in the other side to where the Buff girls roost at the top. So, Isaac seems to have accepted him into the flock. The next test will be Ranger crowing and mating the hens.

I love those barred hens! My hens looked just like them when they were younger.

Now they are old and cranky.
