Guess I was just really lucky with those first 2 hatches. Maybe I should keep this one, this time.... Two of them actually. The first 2 pictures.
OOOOOhhhhh, I just checked again. 26 out, THREE yellows! YAY! No buffs. The buff butt in the last picture is a New Hampshire.
Nugget is going broody for her fall quarterly broody session. She went into Rex's coop, where she insists she must lay her egg (used to be the old ladies' coop), laid her egg, terrorized Rex and his girls for a bit, but when I went to get her out, she ran from me, flaring, screaming and clucking her head off. BAD NUGGS! Why me? Why, when I have only a Porcelain D'Anver x Silver Phoenix egg to give her? I don't believe we have fertility in Suede's coop now due to molting so can't give her any of those eggs. Crazy hen. She needs to wait until I have some good BRs or D'Anvers to give her.
I have a couple unbreakable broodies too, Cyn. This one Black Copper Marans girl just won't quit. Two of my remaining four Silkie girls are broody, too. Most everyone else here is molting! Weird, one day the leaves all begin to fall and the next day all the feathers begin to fall.
Took pictures of my oldest F2s. They are 19 days old today. 7 yellows and 1 buff. I have noticed leg color differences too.
OHHHHH, and I have someone for you to "meet."
This is Pecker. He is my white Jersey Giant chick that lives in isolation because he pecks everyone else until they bleed.
Late last night I was just about to post my final hatch results as this, but my satellite went out (thunderstorms):
37 eggs set; 2 eggs left unpipped in hatcher.
30 black
5 yellow
0 buff
I was so excited to see the last 2 chicks hatched were yellow, resulting in 5 rather than 3.
Anyway, I just now looked and one of the two remaining eggs has a pip! Hope it is a yellow!
More rain and thunderstorms expected today. Gosh, I hate mud. Oh well, I won't complain.
